Shortbread recipe

Buttery deliciousness, which shouldn't be eaten exclusively at Christmas! Although I actually use this recipe to make homemade shortbread for Christmas presents.

Shortbread is easy to make, you only need 3 ingredients and it's perfect to make in bulk.

You can add chocolate or dried fruits to this recipe when you are bring the dough together if you want to try different flavours.

  • 55g caster sugar

  • 120g unsalted butter

  • 180g plain flour

  1. Heat the oven to 180 degrees

  2. Whisk or beat the butter and the sugar together until pale and smooth.

  3. Fold in the flour and turn on to a work surface

  4. If adding chocolate or fruits add now

  5. Kneed together lightly and roll out dough to1-2 inches thick

  6. Use pastry cutter or cut into fingers and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes

  7. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or until pale golden-brown.

  8. Set aside to cool on a wire rack

  9. You can also dip these in melted chocolate when cool and leave on a piece of baking paper until chocolate is set.
